Clonkeen Students a Big Hit at Ploughing Championships

The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Enterprise Office (LEO) office was represented at the National Ploughing Championships by ROC Protection.  The innovative trio - Carl Cullen, Ross Byrne and Cormac Spain who were 6th year students from Clonkeen College originally took part in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown's Student Enterprise Programme 2016 and became National Winners in the Senior Category and featured on the Late Late Show showcasing their hurling protection base layer. 

With over 1,440 Dún Laoghaire Rathdown students taking part in our Student Enterprise Programme, we see it as being a very important initiative to encourage and support students in setting up their own business. We are delighted to see ROC Protection's success at the LEO Enterprise Village and wish them well for the future' said Georgina Sweetnam, Head of Enterprise, Local Enterprise Office, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.


The Minister of State for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, Pat Breen TD met the three students at the Local Enterprise Village, congratulated them on their successes to date and commented "It is  a pleasure to meet young entrepreneurs who all have a great future ahead of them".

The trio thoroughly enjoyed the experience at the Ploughing Championships as 300,000 people attended the event in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly from September 19th – 21st, 2017.
