The Development Plan is the County’s principal strategic planning policy document and its purpose is to protect and nurture the future growth of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown –a unique area of Ireland which contains thriving, distinctive and valued areas.

The Development Plan sets out a core Vision of three goals to be achieved by 2022:

  • To deliver Ireland’s best quality of residential life by 2022 with particular reference to achieving environmental excellence in planning and development decisions.
  • To co-ordinate and facilitate economic actors towards achieving full employment in sustainable, meaningful jobs by 2022.
  • To support and sustain economic and natural resources of Regional significance to 2022 and beyond.

Thanking Councillors and Council staff for all their work and speaking after the adoption of the County Development Plan, An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Barry Saul said, “We are very fortunate to live in a County with such an abundance of economic and natural resources. This plan will build on those amenities and furnish the Council with a significant opportunity to provide support for and promote business development and employment opportunities in the County, as well as to achieve the very best quality of life for people working and living in the area.”
