Intro Text

We are delighted that everyone is enjoying the weather, with a significant number of people visiting the beaches  across the county.

Our cleaning crews are currently very busy monitoring bathing water, dealing with pollution risks and incidents, providing the lifeguard service, clearing algae from slips and steps at bathing areas, litter management, maintenance of public conveniences, maintenance of ring buoys, and managing permits for jet-skis, ice-cream vendors and filiming.

There are challenges to maintaining the beaches. We would ask members of the public to bring their rubbish home, which will reduce the problem of increased littering at beaches at this time of the year.

We have additional staff assigned to the beaches clean up throughout the day. Our crews are also notified by the lifeguards on duty, in the event of excess littering.

We will be placing additional bins at Sandycove. In accordance with our litter management policy, we encourage beach users to take their rubbish home.

Our crews start at 7.00am and work until 10pm. This allows for cleaning of beaches up to late in the evening in preparation for the next day.

Remember, the beaches are for all of us to enjoy, please take your litter with you.
