General News
Top-level tennis comes to the area this summer with dlr sponsoring an ITF Futures tournament. The action happens in Carrickmines Tennis Club from Sunday 16 – Saturday 22 July.
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown International Men’s Tennis championships will provide a unique opportunity for local racquet heads to experience top level tennis on their very own doorstep. Showcasing the very best talent Ireland has to offer, Irish Davis Cup team members Sam Barry and Peter Bothwell will be in the draw. Future stars of the game will be fighting it out for the $25,000 prize fund, with a number of Irish Wild Card Entries participating. Future Irish star Simon Carr (pictured) will be there, and watch out for him at Roland Garros as he makes his debut at the French Open Junior Grand Slam event this summer.

Players from all over the world ranked from 150- 350 in the ATP World Rankings will be attending, making this a fiercely competitive affair. The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown International Men’s Tennis Championships is one of only two professional men’s tennis events held in Ireland this year, and it offers a great chance for fans to see some tennis stars of the future. The ITF professional circuit is a hot bed of rising talent, with superstars like Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer all having learnt their trade in similar events when starting out. So you might see a star of the future in your own backyard!
