Intro Text

Music Generation dlr is currently seeking applications from primary schools in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown for group music programmes in 2019/2020. The current programme for primary schools includes group tuition in ukulele, guitar, strings, percussion and voice.

Music Generation focuses on the provision of performance music education – that is, the breadth of vocal and instrumental learning in all genres and styles of music. This includes all pedagogical approaches and practices appropriate to particular musical cultures and traditions, and is delivered by professional musician educators. Music Generation believes in every child and young person’s musical potential and their innate artistry, that it is every child and young person’s right to have the choice of access and the chance to participate as a musical citizen and that music doesn’t just change lives, it transforms lives.

In September 2017, Music Generation dlr was selected for participation in Music Generation, Ireland’s national music education programme initiated by Music Network and co-funded by U2, The Ireland Funds and the Department of Education and Skills and Local Music Education Partnerships. Locally, Music Generation dlr is managed by dlr Music Education Partnership (MEP), led by dlr County Council in partnership with Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board, TUSLA, Southside Partnership dlr, Blackrock Education Centre, IADT, UCD and Crosscare.
