Dublin Animation Film Festival 2020, which takes place annually in October in Dun Laoghaire will be celebrating talented Irish animators during the Bank Holiday weekend. The festival will take place on the streaming platform at


Among the treats in store are a selection of Irish student films created by the graduating class of 2020 from the National Film School, IADT, The Irish School of Animation, BCFE, Coláiste Dhúlaigh, Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick Institute of Technology (Clonmel campus), and the University of Ulster.

Competing films for the Best Irish Short include Taunt Studios ‘Tot’ from Taunt Studios in Belfast, the popular RTÉ/Daily Madness Co-Production “To the Stars” covering the journey of Dr Norah Patten, Boulder Media’s ‘Brother Ezekiel’, “Rawr” directed by Sorcha McGlinchey, and ‘Far Isle’ from Paper Owls.


As well as showcasing Irish films, the festival is offering an international short film programme with a selection of films including “Kring!” from Brainy Bones Studios in Malaysia and the dystopian environmental horror film “Wade” produced by Ghost Studios in India.

The Dublin Animation Film Festival has been supported since 2011 by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and is proud to encourage new Irish talent. The festival is also supported by Creative Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
