Over €3.1 million in Sports Capital & Equipment programme for dlr
* Government funding scheme benefits wide array of sports
* Funding to go towards Council projects and local clubs
The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and Minister Catherine Martin have announced a record level of funding for the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP) scheme.
As part of this funding programme, planned sports and leisure projects by the Council and a wide range of local sports clubs in the county will receive over €3.17 million from the Scheme.
Council projects that were successful in their funding applications including a joint Council venture with DLR Leisure for their Meadowbrook facility, changing room facilities for the Council's two newest parklands at Fernhill Park and Hudson Park, as well as a wide range of pitch, running track, and facility improvements.
The funding applications are part of the Council's continued commitment to your sports and leisure facilities in all parts of the county; from our uplands areas down towards our coast.
Speaking of the announcement An Cathaoirleach, Cllr Lettie McCarthy, said:
I am delighted at the amount of funding that has been received by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, as well as sports organisations across our county. This money will help us to provide vital improvements to many of our sports facilities and will enable us to keep sport at the heart of our communities. This money has been granted to variety of different types of sport and this in turn will help us as a Council to ensure that we can make sports accessible to all our citizens”
