Intro Text

Following the adoption of Bye-Laws for the Control of On-Street Stationless Bike Hire and On-street Car Clubs, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council now seeks proposals from suitable companies to apply for a Licence to operate such schemes in the County. This follows from two successful pilots under taken by Bleeperbike and Gocar that showed that a demand exists for a bike share and a car share scheme in the County. Interested Operators are required to submit a proposal under various headings. At the end of the process, a licence will be issued to two successful Operators for each scheme.

An Cathaoirleach Cllr Ossian Smyth said,

Bike sharing and Car Clubs help people to drive less, save money and stay healthy. These schemes have proven popular in other European cities for several years and I am delighted that now the people of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown will have the same opportunities. Some households will go from two cars to one and others will find they don't need a car at all. Cleaner air and lighter traffic will benefit us all.
