Commercial Rates Waiver for the First Quarter 2022
On October 12th a targeted commercial rates waiver to support certain sectors was agreed by Government, for the final quarter of 2021. An extension of this waiver for a further period of three months, for the first quarter of 2022, has been agreed by Government.
The extended waiver will take the form of a credit in lieu of rates. The terms and conditions relating to the eligibility and administration of the extended waiver remain the same as those for Quarter 4 2021 Targeted waiver. A 100% waiver will be applied to eligible properties, for a further three-month period to the end of March 2022. The value of the waiver is the equivalent value of 25% of the annual rate bill for 2022. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will automatically apply this credit in lieu of commercial rates for the three-month period to eligible businesses.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council will automatically apply the 25% waiver to eligible business categories and an application is not required.
There is no provision in the Q1 2022 targeted rates waiver scheme for appeals, or to demonstrate financial impact of COVID or related restrictions. However, if a property is excluded from the Q1 2022 waiver based on category or use on its valuation certificate, and this is not accurate to the service/activity of the occupying business, a business may make this known to the Council and be considered for the waiver.Any such applications to be submitted to rateswaiver@dlrcoco.ie. The closing date for consideration of applications is 21st March 2022.
