Phase 2 ReOpening and local effects in dlr

Date
Saturday, June 6, 2020
Location
dlr County
Intro Text

Following the announcement by the Government and the publication of guidance for Phase 2 Reopening, there will be a number of beneficial effects on service provision in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

Parks Playgrounds:

Playgrounds in all dlr Parks will be reopening over the course of the week commencing 8 June but only after a period of assessment and inspection checks on all equipment.

Parents and guardians of children using the playgrounds will be expected to supervise their children in line with existing physical distancing and hygiene guidelines.

Library Service:

dlr Libraries are planning a gradual re-opening of our services in compliance with Government Guidelines. We are planning on opening the physical Library spaces in phases from the 29 June and will keep you updated on these plans.

However, from the week beginning Monday 8 June, dlr Libraries are delighted to take a step closer to re-opening by offering our new Bag a Book: Contact & Collect service which you can access via a new online form here or be phoning your currently participating branch at Blackrock, Dalkey, Deansgrange, Dundrum, dlr LexIcon and Stillorgan.

By using this service your participating branch can prepare a selection of books, CDs and DVDs for you, based on your reading habits, hobbies and interests. While we can’t offer you specific titles or fulfil reserves just yet, we know you’ve been missing our library material, so this will help bridge the gap until you can visit again!

In order to manage queues safely and efficiently and in line with social distancing requirements, we ask that one member from each household come to the library at the arranged time.

You cannot come into the library to browse the books during this Phase but you may return library items that you have, should you wish to do so, at designated Book Drop locations at the front of your local library during library hours. We would ask you not to rush items back all at once - there are currently over 100,000 items on loan!

Further information, hours of operation and frequently asked questions on this service can be found at www.dlrcoco.ie/libraries

Public Realm Enabling Works:

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council continue to work on creating inviting public space that will help to make visiting, shopping or spending time in Blackrock Village, Dundrum Village and other village areas around the county a safe and enjoyable experience.  These measures form our response to the Covid-19 crisis and will facilitate safe physical distancing, mobility and support businesses reopening.

Temporary changes to the public realm and mobility interventions in these areas, will include a temporary one-way traffic systems on sections of roadway in the villages and the reallocation of road space for the safety and benefit of pedestrians, cyclists and local businesses. These works will be carried out in the coming weeks, commencing in Blackrock next week.
