dlr Red Jetty

The dlr Red Jetty designed by A2 Architects and Alan Meredith Studio (commissioned in May 2017 by dlr Architects' Department in collaboration with dlr Parks Department) and was made possible with the support of the architectural programme for Creative Ireland 2017.

The Red Jetty shows the power of design to enhance quality of life; to encourage interaction; to design an age-friendly, robust, vibrant moveable space that could be re-configured in part or in whole in a variety of settings; to define, activate and recharge overlooked urban spaces as well as enhance established settings.

It is a bench but it is also so much more. This ‘meet seat’ public space project has been an outright success to date in dlr LexIcon Garden, Cabinteely Park, Marlay Park and Sandyford Industrial Estate - ‘dlr Red Jetty on Tour!’.

The Mews

The Mews development, designed by dlr Architects' Department and supported by dlr Housing Department, has provided much needed dwellings built to the highest environmental standards. The development is in keeping with our ethos of providing age-friendly, bright, spacious, comfortable accommodation, with superb indoor air quality and low running costs for our tenants. This building achieves our desire to make good use of limited available sites as well as supporting our downsizing policy and it has freed up larger dwellings which are being re-allocated to families. We are really delighted with the final design and look forward to the results of the monitoring that will give us data on energy use and air quality.
