Update 8th April 2022: Please read the findings from our Consultation - Love our Laneways which is an initiative established by dlr in partnership with A Playful City. The project is seeking to become an exemplar of how laneways can be reimagined by working with the local community. Pearse Drive/ ‘The Gaps’ in the Pearse estate was identified by DLRCC as the first location for the Love Our Laneways pilot project.
In the coming months we hope to trial, test and implement the vision of the local community at Sallynoggin!
Update December 2021: dlr in collaboration with A Playful City* and the local community are currently developing a co-created vision for Pearse Drive laneway in Sallynoggin to enhance it as a more playful, people-centred place for the community, by the community.
Pearse Drive Sallynoggin is defined by a series of long streets running between Sallyglen Road and Rochestown Avenue, with the majority of retail to the North East of the laneway and public amenity to the south. With close proximity to places such as St Josephs Boys AFC and the Community & Senior Centre, and so has the potential to become a key link between these key stakeholders, as well as an inclusive, accessible and attractive place for local community.
This exciting and innovative project will be made up of multiple phases, from community visioning all the way to design and execution with each phase involving listening to and collaborating with community members and lADT and Sallnoggin College of Further Education.
A Model for Engagement and Re-imagination
dlr are seeking to develop a process to engage and collaborate with community and local stakeholders thereby promoting a bottom up approach for underutilised spaces in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. The aim for this project is to create a template for engaging local community in the decision making and design process.
