Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (dlr) launched their new development plan - Beyond our walls: Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Library Development Plan 2022-2026 which sets out the priorities for the development of the library services for the next few years.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr. Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire County Council, said

The plan is ambitious and provides a platform for the library service to respond to the changing needs of our communities.  It will also ensure that we continue to maintain, expand, and develop our library spaces and services”.

Chief Executive of Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council, Frank Curran added:

The library service adapted very well to the challenges of the last few years and is committed to providing free, accessible services, including exploring new initiatives around the areas of accessibility, inclusion, hybrid event programming and digital literacy.  With this plan, we are now looking at developing further services for and with our communities including new library branches, services and initiatives for older people, children, young people and those with diverse needs”.

The Library Development Plan 2022-2026 provides great opportunities for everyone to access our libraries and enables inclusion, participation, and creative expression that improves the quality of life for all our communities.
