These commission opportunities are aimed at artists, arts groups or arts organisations working in the area of arts and inclusion – a key focus of the Arts Council’s ‘Equality, Human Rights and Diversity Policy and Strategy’.
The scope of these commissions includes Arts and Disability, Arts and Health, Cultural Diversity and the Arts, and Arts and Older People. It also encompasses the broader areas outlined in the Arts Council’s Policy, where inequality in accessing and participating in the cultural life of the County still exists today.
These commissions are aimed at supporting artists, arts groups or arts organisations who already work or intend to work with communities of interest or place within Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County – in order to promote equality of opportunity and access to the cultural life of the County. While the communities of interest or place must be based in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County, the call is open to artists, arts groups or organisations practicing nationally.
These commission opportunities are open to all artforms.
Funded by the Arts Council and supported by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Brief
Exploration and engagement are at the heart of these commissions. The process of working with or finding ways to work with communities of place or interest, as identified in the Arts Council’s ‘Equality, Human Rights and Diversity Policy and Strategy’, is the central focus of these commissions; not a final or finished ‘piece’. It is envisaged that any exploratory ‘outcome/s’ from these commissions will emerge entirely from the process of engaging with communities, rather than being pre-determined from the outset. dlr Arts Office is open to the form and timeframe that these explorations may take. The artist, arts group or arts organisation may wish to work with a newly formed group of participants or an existing group. This group could be for example linked to a service, community based support group or other organisation working with people in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County.
The fee is €5,000 per commission to include all expenses (VAT inclusive).
The commissions must be completed by February 2023.
The deadline has now passed.
