An Cathaoirleach Shay Brennan and Chief Executive Philomena Poole were on hand on Wednesday 5 February to mark the launch of the Druid’s Glen Road Junction. Strategically located linking Cherrywood to the N11 near Cabinteely, when fully completed this road will play a key role in further opening up lands at Cherrywood, developing the new town which, when fully built, provide for 25,000 potential new residents in over 8,700 homes with a town centre, 6 schools, significant parklands and open space serviced by a network of pedestrian and cycling routes, high intensity employment, high quality transportation links and public realm and municipal facilities.
Speaking at the launch An Cathaoirleach, commented
I am delighted to be here at the Druid’s Glen Road Junction, which is the gateway to the new town in our County. Today marks a very important milestone in the development of our county and in securing the future of Cherrywood.”
The junction was part-funded under the Local Infrastructure Housing Activation Fund (LIHAF scheme) as part of the Rebuilding Ireland programme and works were carried out on behalf of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council by Clonmel Enterprises Ltd.
