      Can I swim at the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      Yes, you can access the water safely on the lower deck of the facility directly to the sea or via the ladder from the jetty. Please remember that care and caution should always be taken when swimming in the sea.

      Is the facility open 24 hours a day?

      Yes, the Dún Laoghaire Baths are outdoors and are accessible to the public at any time.

      Are the facilities free to use at the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      Yes, the facilities are free to use.

      Do I need to pre-book to swim at the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      No, you do not need to pre-book.

      Are there any changing facilities on site?

      Yes, there are changing facilities outside under the swimming shelter.

      Is jumping / diving permitted from the jetty?

      Jumping or diving is not permitted from the jetty due to the presence of rocks and rock armour. There are signs in place at the end of the jetty.

      Where can I check the tides?

      A digital screen will be on display beside the main building and will show tide times. In addition, tide timetables are available online through various websites.

      Is there a swimming pool or "Baths" on site?

      Not at present. The original plans did not include baths/swimming pool, but a future phase of development on the site can include an open seawater pool, subject to approval.

      Are there plans to include a pool at the Baths?

      Future development on the site can include an open seawater pool. During the renovation, a rectangular concrete void was left below the surface of the amphitheatre (lower deck) area, with a concrete lid covering it, allowing for the inclusion of a tidal pool at a later stage, subject to approval.

      Will the water quality be tested at the Baths and how often will it be tested?

      Once final agreement is reached with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), we will test the sea water at the Dún Laoghaire Baths inline with our other coastal locations, i.e. weekly during the bathing season (1st of June to 15th of September) and fortnightly outside of the bathing season.       Will there be a lifeguard on duty?

      Subject to lifeguard availability, a lifeguard service will be provided during the bathing season (1st of June to 15th of September).

      Will marker buoys be deployed to denote a dedicated bathing area?

      Yes, marker buoys will be deployed at the Dún Laoghaire Baths upon final agreement and approval through the associated bodies.

      Are there public toilets at the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      Yes, there is a public toilet and accessible toilet inside the main building. The main building will open in Spring 2023. The nearest toilets are in the People’s Park.

      Are there any accessible toilets at the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      Yes, there are accessible toilets called “changing places” for people with additional needs.

      When will the café open to the public?

      The café will open in Spring 2023.

      How can I apply to work at the artists’ studio inside the main building?

      The dlr Arts Office are now asking artists to apply for the new workspaces in the main building. There are four awards currently available to support local artists with rent free, purpose-built artist workspaces and project funding. More details can be found here.

      Is the facility full accessible?

      The main building and mid-level outside area are fully accessible. There is a temporary ramp in place to the lower amphitheatre area which will be replaced with a permanent accessible ramp in 2023/2024.

      Can I walk from the East Pier to the Dún Laoghaire Baths?

      Yes, you can walk from the East Pier to the facility. There are plans for a new renovated walkway between Dún Laoghaire’s East Pier and the Dún Laoghaire Baths in 2023/2024.

      No, skateboarding, rollerblading, or any similar activities are not permitted at the Baths.

      Yes, dogs are permitted at the Baths but they must be kept on a leash at all times.

      The Beach Bye Laws will be reviewed and amended in due course to clearly define the position regarding dogs and other such rulings at the Baths.
