Intro Text

Community Clean-up Scheme equipment - if you would like to access equipment under the Community Clean-up Scheme (bags, litter pickers, gloves or high-vis) please use the ‘Report It’ tool to log a request. Under level five public health advice, it is not possible to visit dlr offices to collect Community Clean-up equipment. Instead, please log your request using ‘Report It’ and we will contact you directly to provide more information and offer an alternative, when possible. The Community Clean-up Scheme is open to community groups, estate management groups, residents’ associations, tidy towns, tidy district groups and schools.

Community Clean-up Scheme bag collections - the blue bag collection service is operating. Please use the ‘Report It’ tool to arrange the location and date of the blue litter bag collection. To prevent any delays, please contact us before the voluntary litter-pick.

Safety - thank you to the volunteers who participate in National Spring Clean and the Community Clean-up Scheme. Please be mindful of your safety and ensure you have reviewed the latest public health advice (www.hse.ie) before taking part in a litter pick. For more safety information, please review National Spring Clean's guidance document (here).

The dlr Community Clean-up scheme supports groups wishing to organise a litter pick in their local area by providing a kit (bags, pickers and gloves) and collecting the litter bags. The scheme is available for community groups, estate management groups, residents’ associations, tidy towns, tidy districts and schools.

Please note

  • Bags, gloves and pickers are available. Guidelines apply. Bags will be registered to the community or school group.
  • The location and date of the litter bag collection must be arranged with the Civic Hub before the litter pick event. The Council can only collect bags from a public location.
  • Only general street litter in official blue Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Clean-up bags can be collected.
  • Recyclables (e.g. glass bottles and cans) collected during a clean-up should be taken to a local bring bank for recycling. Recyclable waste is not collected under this scheme.
  • Green waste and leaves cannot be collected under this scheme.
