Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council are proud to host a Conference promoting gender equality and diversity in Local Government in the Royal Marine Hotel, Carlisle Suite on Saturday 20th May 2023 from 11am to 3pm. 9.45am to 10.45am: Conference check-in 

11.05am: Welcome address: Councillor Mary Hanafin, An Cathaoirleach
11.25am: Keynote Speaker: Dr Valesca Lima,  Assistant Professor of Political Science at the School of Law and Government, DCU “Women's Success in Politics and the Contributions of Migrant Communities”.
11:50am: Speaker: Johnny Fallon, Strategy Director, Carr Communications Ltd “How to run for election – the process as a candidate and how to run a successful campaign”.
12.15pm – 12.30pm: Questions & Answers
12.35pm – 1.00pm: Refreshments
1.05pm: Speaker: Claire McGing, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Manager, IADT / Gender & Politics Researcher. “Promoting Women’s Equality in Irish Politics: Recruitment, Retention, Representation”
1.25pm - 2.35pm: Workshop and panel discussion led by Claire McGing - “The importance of equality and diversity in Local Government for policy making and representation” and responding to conference workshop findings on the challenges facing women entering politics".

Stands from organisations, including Women for Election and SHE: See Her Elected will be present on the day to promote the supports that they have available for female candidates for next years Local Elections.

There is free car parking in the hotel car park for Conference attendees.
