Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, is proposing a masterplan for the upgrading of Corke Abbey Valley Park. The Parks and Landscape Services Department have developed a masterplan based on comprehensive analysis of Corke Abbey Valley Park, ecological studies and public consultation. The masterplan identifies the site as an intrinsic area of biodiversity and climate resilience. Tree management and upgrading of the path network is a priority for the Corke Abbey Valley Park Masterplan. Additional works include upgrading entrances and bridges, a lit shared surface corridor to increase active and evening participation through walking and cycling and additional seating and callisthenics opportunities. The net effect for the locality is an improved public space rich with biodiversity, greening and placemaking, making efficient use of the limited space to cater for park users, and the development of habitats for flora and fauna. A new playground with nature-based play solutions forms the foundation of the active recreation opportunities. Works are to commence in Autumn 2022.
