Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council have developed a new public park on a former brownfield site along the Drummartin Link Road, Sandyford Business Park, Dublin 18.
The main features of these works are:
• To improve the appearance of the area through transforming a brownfield site to a publicly accessible park; introducing natural mounds and extensive native Irish woodland planting to provide natural habitats and significantly improve the carbon footprint of the environs.
• To maximise the available Public Realm space by a providing a generous park with new entrances, planting, new boundary treatment and wide paths throughout the park.
• Provide a large, accessible playground that includes natural play.
• Additional works: Ample seating and resting opportunities, lighting, ballstop netting, public art work and natural attenuation areas.
Ongoing works along the Drummartin Link Road form part of the Sandyford Cycle Route (Kilgobbin to Drummartin Link Rd Section) to improve cycle tracks to promote sustainable transport.
As a result of this scheme it is hoped to provide improved public open space facilities within the area and improve pedestrian linkages.
Works are due for completion in early 2021.
