Sightsavers: Framing the Future
Each year, Sightsavers asks children to create a painting that allows them to both explore the sense of sight and to consider the world around them, acknowledging the additional challenges faced by those living with visual impairment in developing countries. The judges for this year’s competition are Padraig Naughton, Director of Arts and Disability Ireland, Emmy award-winning costume designer, Joan Bergin, and Laureate na nÓg, P.J. Lynch. The exhibition displays the work of 15 regional winners, including the 4 national winners of Sightsavers’ Junior Painter Awards 2017. The theme this year was Framing the Future, encouraging all participants to use their imagination, with older children engaging with Sightsavers’ Put Us In The Picture campaign for the inclusion of people with disabilities in developing countries.
