Event Description

Dunleary Lifeboat Project

21 Jan-4 Feb

Launching Mon 21 Jan 6.00-8.00pm. All welcome!

The Dunleary Lifeboat No. 658 was stationed in Dún Laoghaire Harbour from 1919 until 1937. In that time it saved 55 lives and is an important part of the harbour’s history and heritage. The boat was rescued and returned to the harbour by The Dunleary Lifeboat Project, a community association whose goal is to restore her to full sea-going condition so that she can be used as a heritage asset in the harbour taking groups of visitors on short historical trips. The exhibition will trace the story of the Dunleary Lifeboat, her rescue and her future as part of Dún Laoghaire’s rich maritime culture.
