The proposals were advertised and Information sessions and meetings held in conjunction with the NTA.
The issues raised at these meetings have been addressed by the following changes:
- It is proposed to provide a 30minute service to the City Centre along Sallyglen Road (Revised Route 7) (every second bus)
- It is proposed to retain a 30minute service to the City Centre on the existing route through Pearse Estate (Route 7A)
- In addition, it is proposed to operate an hourly service Mon to Sat on the 111 route which will be routed through Pearse Estate to serve the area
Dublin Bus requested that bus stops be provided along the Sallyglen Road to facilitate the new routings and identify preferred bus stop locations. Preliminary design was completed and an independent Road Safety Audit was carried out.
A further non-Statutory Public Consultation was held in March 2016 in relation to the bus stop locations and layout. A briefing meeting was held on 19th May 2016 to advise Councillors of the outcome of the non-Statutory Public Consultation and there was broad agreement that the scheme would progress through Tender stage and onto site during the summer.
The construction of the new bus stops along the Sallyglen Road commenced today 12th August 2016 for a period of six weeks and Roadmaster Construction have been appointed as contractor.
All efforts will be made to minimise any disruption which may occur during the construction stage.
- Please note, Dublin Bus will advertise changes to bus routings and timetables in advance of their introduction, when the bus stop construction is complete.
