The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Community & Cultural Development Department and dlr Age Friendly Alliance are delighted to launch the 2022 dlr Age Friendly Magazine.

The 2022 dlr Age Friendly magazine is produced by the dlr Age Friendly Programme, the Community Section of dlr County Council and dlr Libraries and is funded by Creative Ireland, Healthy Ireland and the dlr County Council Library Services, Age Friendly Programme and Community section.

This is the second year of the dlr Age Friendly magazine, and this free resource is packed with information, short stories, poems, recipes, lyrics, puzzles, exercises, and guidance on the assistance and services available to older people across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The magazine holds an array of information on the services and activities provided by dlr County Council from our Libraries, Arts, Community, Heritage, Parks, Leisure, Sports Partnership, Housing, and Environment sections.

Essential information on the services and assistance provided by the many Age Friendly support organisations and groups working in the county are included in the magazine on keeping active, safe, connected, assisting with wellbeing, mental health as well as guidance on getting started with digital and staying active online.

An Cathaoirleach, Councillor Lettie McCarthy said about the latest Age Friendly magazine:

We hope that you will enjoy reading this Age Friendly magazine and holding onto it as a valuable resource and that it will inspire you to get involved with the many Age Friendly groups, organisations and activities taking place across  Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown in 2022.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed to this year’s magazine, especially the wealth of creative writing and articles that were submitted by individuals and active retirement groups and the many organisations and groups supporting older people across Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.

The magazine aims to inform, support, engage, and entertain and is available free of charge from all dlr Libraries and County Council offices as well as community centres, churches, shops and for information on receiving your copy, contact the Community Section, dlr County Council at 01 205 4893 or community@dlrcoco.ie.
