Chambers Ireland have announced the shortlist for the Excellence in Local Government Awards 2016 with a total of twenty three local authorities shortlisted over sixteen categories We are delighted to have been shortlisted under 3 Categories.

Promoting Economic Development – CoCo Markets

Oxytoxin in rehearsal for their dlr Lexicon performance; dlr Performing Arts Award

Jon Reynolds commission “Oxytocin: What I love in my life?” worked with a group of musicians and artists with intellectual disabilities to create a new, accessible live performance of pop music with digital projections that was open to everyone to attend. This took place in the Studio, dlr LexIcon, in May 2016 to a capacity audience. It was one of 3 commissions awarded a dlr Performing Arts Award. These awards were developed to respond to the need for better access to cultural activities at local level for people with disabilities.

An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Cllr. Cormac Devlin said,

“I would like to congratulate Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council on being shortlisted for 3 Awards in the Chambers Ireland Excellence in Local Government Awards. Being shortlisted for the Excellence in Local Government Awards highlights the commitment shown by the Council to our area.”

The Excellence in Local Government Awards are held in association with the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government. The winners will be announced at the 13^th annual awards ceremony on 24th November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Northwood, Santry. Awards will be presented for Excellence in sixteen different categories and one local authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year 2016.
