Meet COCO

Hi Everyone,

My name is COCO. I come from the Planet Mercury. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and is very hot! - Almost 350 degrees during the day. It is rocky and has lots of dents all over it where it has been hit by meteorites (large space rocks) Mercury is only about one third of the size of the Earth and is not much larger than the Moon.

In January 1994, I came to Earth and landed in the new Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County on the Planet Earth. My mission was to examine the water, air, animals and plants and how humans deal with these elements. I picked Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown because it is an area of natural beauty that includes part of the Dublin Mountains and also a beautiful coastline.

Every week I put my antennae into action and do a COCO-check on the County Council to see what's cool with the Environment. I report back by e-mail to my home planet Mercury. In my Mercury school I had learnt something of the Earth and the Environment.

When I came to the Council I learnt that while they do an awful lot to protect the Environment, they have humungous fun doing so. I now play soccer in Marlay Park, I am a member of Dundrum Library, and I help with the clean-ups in Dun Laoghaire. I always make sure I go to the family fun days, concerts and the annual Festival of World Cultures - Wow! I'm having such a great time I've decided to stay.
