Intro Text

In a groundbreaking ceremony today, An Cathaoirleach Tom Murphy with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar formally launched the start of the works that will see the National Rehabilitation Hospital expand by a further 120 beds.

This unique purpose built rehabilitation facility, which is a first for Ireland, will see the existing ward accommodation replaced by a new block of 120 single en-suite rooms. It will include integrated therapy spaces, a new sports hall, a hydrotherapy unit and a temporary concourse as well as clinical and ancillary spaces.

The redevelopment will enhance the environment for patients and contribute towards achieving optimum outcomes from their Rehabilitation Programme.  It will enable staff to deliver services in a new and innovative environment designed specifically around patients’ needs.
