Éilíonn an tAcht um Chosaint Sonraí 1998 agus an tAcht um Chosaint Sonraí (Leasú) 2003 go mbeidh Comhairle Contae Dhún Laoghaire-Ráth an Dúin freagrach as sonraí pearsanta a phróiseáil go cothrom. Cosnaíonn na hAchtanna príobháideacht phearsanta agus cearta daoine aonair agus cuireann sé freagrachtaí ar leith ar fhoireann na Comhairle agus iad ag plé le sonraí pearsanta.

Nuair a thugann tú sonraí pearsanta d’eagraíocht nó do dhuine aonair, bíonn cearta agat maidir le húsáid na faisnéise sin agus tá sé de dhualgas ar an gComhairle na sonraí a choinneáil príobháideach agus sábháilte.

 

Seo a leanas na cearta atá i bhfeidhm nuair:

  • atá do shonraí á gcoinneáil ar ríomhaire
  • atá do shonraí á gcoinneáil ar pháipéar nó i bhformáid láimhe eile i gcóras comhdaithe 
  • is ionann do shonraí agus grianghraif nó thaifeadáin fístéipe de d'íomhá nó de thaifeadáin de do ghuth

 

Cinnteoidh na cearta seo go bhfuil an fhaisnéis atá á stóráil:

  • ceart ó thaobh na bhfíoras de
  • ar fáil dóibh siúd ar cheart dóibh í a fháil amháin, agus
  • á húsáid do na cuspóirí a luadh amháin

 

Nuair atá duine aonair/eagraíocht i seilbh do shonraí pearsanta, tá sé de cheart agat:

  • go mbainfear úsáid as do shonraí de réir na rialachán maidir le cosaint sonraí

  • faisnéis ar do shonraí pearsanta a fháil

  • rochtain a fháil ar do shonraí pearsanta

  • fios a bheith agat cé na sonraí atá á gcoinneáil

  • do shonraí a athrú nó a bhaint

  • cosc a chur ar úsáid do shonraí

  • do shonraí a bhaint de liosta margaíochta dírí

  • agóid a dhéanamh in aghaidh úsáid do shonraí pearsanta

  • eolas a fháil ar an loighic a bhí i gceist nuair ba é cinnteoireacht uathoibrithe an t-aon bhunús amháin le cinneadh tábhachtach a bhfuil tionchar aige ort 

  • diúltú do ghlaonna nó le post margaíochta dírí

 

FAQS

Under Section 3 of the Data Protection Acts, you have a right to find out, free of charge, if the Council holds information about you.  You also have the right to be given a description of the information and to be told the purpose(s) for holding your information.   The Council must respond to your request under Section 3 within 21 days.

 

Under Section 4 of the Data Protection Acts, you have a right to get a copy of your personal information.  This applies to all types of information e.g. written information, CCTV etc.  You are entitled to know where the information was obtained, how it has been used and if it has been passed on to anyone else.

 

All requests for personal details must be made in writing, either by post, email or fax.  You may be asked for evidence of your identity.  This is to make sure that personal information is not given to the wrong person.  Please address your request to:

In your request, you should give any details that will help the County Council to identify you and find your data e.g. any previous address and/or date of birth.  Also, be clear about which details you are looking for if you are only looking for certain information. 

 

You should receive these details within 40 days of your request.

A fee may be payable, but it cannot exceed €6.35.

If you feel the Council is not respecting your data protection rights, you should contact the organisation's Data Protection Officer, Mr. Tom Mahon.  If you are then not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner – details as follows:
