Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Library Service is delighted to announce the winner of this year's Féile Filíochta International Poetry Competition. The winning entry "Higgiugiuk la Lappone" is from Italian poet Francesca Matteoni from Pistoia, Tuscany, who will receive the Poem of Europe Trophy, along with prize money of €6,000.
Matteoni, who has studied literature in Florence and the UK and recently published her first collection of poetry, Artico (Crocetti, 2005), is looking forward to returning to Ireland to receive her prize at an Awards Reading in Dún Laoghaire County Hall on Friday 4th April, when she, along with the other winners, will read their poems.
There were dozens of other winners in all ten of our language categories. You can now view the winners in each category and read their poem on this website.
