The project was the conversion and remodelling of an existing 2 storey building, mainly in bedsits to provide for 34 one bed-units suitable for the elderly. It also provides a range of communal facilities including areas for socialising. The project is a demonstration project for a European Energy Initiative and the second phase of a redevelopment project that when complete will provide 60 attractive dwellings built to the highest energy standards.
Speaking at the event, Carole Pollard, President, RIAI, said: “The wide variety of projects included in this year’s shortlist demonstrates the diversity of great work being carried out by Irish architects, both at home and abroad. Their expertise in designing and delivering high quality infrastructure bolsters Ireland’s reputation as a great place to live and do business.
