As part of its commitment to enhancing our communities and environment dlr has secured funding from the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund to financially support local environmental initiatives by communities, individuals and not-for-profit groups. 23 projects are being funded over €36,000 under the 2017 scheme, with areas on interest ranging from a project cataloguing marine life along the dlr coastline and removing rubbish to help maintain a clean marine environment to developing a hub for forest schools in the dlr uplands area.

The fund supports local scale projects to improve the environment and make our communities more sustainable, showing how local initiatives can make a real difference in our local area. Showcasing how small changes can make lasting improvements to our environment, the fund supports small scale non-profit environmental projects such as allotments, community gardens, compost schemes, rainwater harvesting schemes, educational initiatives and environmental exhibitions.

Funding for the schemes is provided by Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment and that amount is matched by dlr.

Eligible projects are those that will support and complement, at a local level, national environmental policies such as those on Waste, Biodiversity, Climate Change, Air, Water and Sustainable Development.
