Grant Applications Invited under Communities Facilities Scheme 2017
Intro Text

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Community Development Committee is pleased to announce that grant applications are being invited under the Communities Facilities Scheme 2017.

The Minister of State for Communities and the National Drugs Strategy, Catherine Byrne TD, has announced a new €2m Capital Grants Scheme for disadvantaged urban and rural areas. The scheme will run initially from July 2017-December 2017 and is focused on providing small-scale capital grants to help grass roots community projects get underway or to take the next step towards achieving their objectives.

The Scheme is being administered by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDC) under the remit of the Local Authorities (LA) on behalf of the Department. The LCDCs will be responsible for targeting and allocating funding, as they are best placed to identify the applications which most suitably address the Scheme's target groups and issues in each LA administrative area.

The purpose of the scheme is to support community participation and involvement. The scheme will offer grants up to a maximum of €1,000 per project. The total funding available for the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown area is €64,500.

The Closing date for receipt of completed applications is 30th June 2017 at 4.00pm.

Under the scheme, community and voluntary groups may apply for grants for small scale capital projects or capital elements of projects that seek to enhance communities, address disadvantage and improve social cohesion at a local level. In cases where both current and capital works are carried out together, only the capital element can be funded through this scheme.

The scheme has prioritised target groups and thematic areas and applications should relate to at least one key target group and thematic area in order to be eligible for consideration.

Applications should relate to at least one key target group and thematic area in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Local Community and Economic Plan 2016-2021 relating to:

  • Youth
  • Older people
  • People with disabilities
