The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has announced two schemes to assist with repairs to Protected Structures and structures or works within Architectural Conservation Areas (ACAs) where, in the opinion of the local authority, a need for works to enhance the character and appearance of an ACA has been demonstrated.

BUILT HERITAGE INVESTMENT SCHEME (BHIS)

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) is designed as a support to owners and custodians in caring for our built heritage and ensuring that it is protected into the future. DLRCOCO are inviting owners of protected structures to apply. Applications can be lodged for grants from €2,500 up to a maximum of €15,000 with applicants required to provide a minimum of 50% of the total costs.

HISTORIC STRUCTURES FUND (HSF)

The primary focus of the Historic Structures Fund (HSF) will be on conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings for the broader benefit of communities and the public. The HSF also allows for specific applications for the conservation of a vernacular structures, historic shopfronts or a traditional Irish Language Shopfront. Grants of between €15,000 and €50,000 are available under Stream 1. Between €50,000 and €200,000 under Stream 2 and between €5,000 and €10,000 under Vernacular Structures stream

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS IS FRIDAY 12TH JANUARY 2024
