Music Ensemble Workshops with Conor Murray and Darragh O’Kelly

Do you want to play in a band? Are you playing in a band but want to learn how to make your band sound better, become more creative and have more fun?
Then this may be something for you!

We are starting a 10-week course teaching the basics of group playing. The course will help young musicians to become more confident and expressive while playing in a band and also will help them to understand their role(s) within the musical situation they are in. The participants will learn about a variety of aspects, starting from basic groove, tempo, rhythm, phrasing and timbre (as it relates to the overall sound of a band). The course will help participants to develop a clearer picture on how to develop musical ideas and how to apply them to creating songs, which will then be proven with a recording at the end of the course!

Applicants need to be between 12 and 18 years of age and have good experience of playing a musical instrument.

This course will benefit young musicians of all music tastes.

The course will take place one evening a week an hour and a half and begins in January 2010 taking place in The Grainstore dlr Youth Arts Facility.

If you are interested in applying for this course, please contact Laura Larkin by email at lauralarkin@dlrcoco.ie or by telephone on 01 2719527 to request an application form.

Places are very limited and deadline for applications is Friday 8th Januray 2010 @ 5pm.
