Call for Writer in Residence at The Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT)

September 2008 - May 2009

Press Release

DLR Arts and IADT with support from the Arts Council invite submissions from writers in fiction for a residency based in IADT (September 2008- May 2009). Writers are invited to take inspiration from varied sources including the educational context, the innovative research work and the artistic resources.

The total budget for the residency is €22,000. This amount is to be fully inclusive of the writers's fee - €20,000 and materials and other related costs €2,000.

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, through its extensive Arts Programme, is committed to producing and supporting artistically ambitious and exciting Arts Programmes across all art forms that stimulate, engage and connect with the public or local community and runs an extensive residency programme across many art forms.

The Writer in Residence initiative in collaboration with IADT has been in place since 2002. Previous collaborations between IADT and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Arts Office include writers in residence, poet Caitriona O'Reilly, poet Peter Sirr and poet Katie Donovan.

The 2008 - 2009 residency will allow the writer to
- develop his/her own work
- develop publics for her/his work among the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County community.
- engage with the student, academic and broader community as appropriate to the context, the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County community.
- foster an environment where artmaking and an appreciation of art making can flourish;
- conduct writing workshops with members of the community where appropriate, including a weekly extra-mural workshop located in IADT.

Closing Date: Friday 20th June
