Theatre Director in Residence, UCD, 2006

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, UCD and the Arts Council of Ireland are delighted to announce David Horan as Theatre Director in Residence programme at UCD School of English and Drama, Drama Studies Centre.

Beginning in September 2006, this is the first Artist in Residence Initiative in collaboration with UCD School of English and Drama and is focused on research and practice in Directing for Theatre, in the context of contributing to the development of the UCD MA programme in Directing for Theatre.

David Horan graduated from the Samuel Beckett School of Theatre, Trinity College Dublin with a BA in Theatre Studies and English. He is a founding member and Artistic Director of Peri-Talking Theatre Company.

David's directing credits include: The Call by Tara Maria Lovett (Peri-Talking), Lady Susan by Jane Austen (Inis Theatre), The Suck by Tara Maria Lovett (Project), The World's Wife , an adaptation of poems by Carol Ann Duffy (Inis Theatre, Bewley's), Ecstasy by Mike Leigh (SideTrack Theatre Company), This Lime Tree Bower by Conor McPherson and Highlights from Aladdin, the Pantomime (Cyclorama, Tallaght). Goethe's Faust Part I , adapted by Howard Brenton (Threefold Theatre Group), Little Eyolf by Henrik Ibsen (as part of the Debut Festival at the Samuel Beckett Theatre), Long Day's Journey Into Night at the Crypt Arts Centre and Here Is Monster by Brock Norman Brock (Dublin Fringe Festival '96).

Most recently David was Assistant Director to Gerry Stembridge on That Was Then for the Abbey and Director in Residence at Inis Theatre, Co. Dublin.

This residency aims to create opportunities for the individual artist to develop his own work, contribute to the development of the MA in Directing for Theatre and engage with the theatre community as appropriate to the context.
