Daniel Figgis' ongoing romance with Marlay Park continues with a family-friendly, phantasmagoric new work THE BATTLE oF SPEEDS presented for one day only on Sunday 27 November between 10am and 4pm in the Orangery, Regency Walled Garden, Marlay Park.

This glorious new show consists of six new short fantasy movies, each with a separate original orchestral soundtrack, composed by Figgis. The six movies will play concurrently on all available surfaces in the Orangery - four walls, floor and ceiling - totally immersing or 'suspending' the viewer in the multi-sensory experience.
THE BATTLE oF SPEEDS explores soundbreaker Daniel Figgis' fascination with recording and playback media and an analysis of how they have traditionally determined form, content and presentation of new music.
Daniel first presented a new work (Daniel Figgis' TAMPER) in the forest in Marlay Park in 2004. Since then he has been intrigued by the park’s boathouse and shot all the video footage for this current show there in late September. Figgis has explored new media and new technologies throughout a series of spectacular multi-media live events and he has developed THE BATTLE oF SPEEDS as an exploration of technologies old and new, creating an accessible and entertaining show to captivate audiences of all ages.
THE BATTLE oF SPEEDS will be presented in the beautiful Orangery in Marlay Park's Regency Garden (behind the coffee shop) over a six hour period between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 27 November. Viewers will be free to come and go as they wish over that time period. Family tickets cost €5.
