About Us

Since 1994 Dún Laoghaire- Rathdown County Council has taken great pride in developing and supporting the Arts. The Council views the arts as an important service that contributes to the quality of life for those who live in, work in and visit the County. We are extremely proud of our reputation as a supportive home for the arts and believe in their intrinsic value and the vital contribution that they make to the wellbeing of the County.

Over the last 20 years the Council’s Arts Office has commissioned and produced an exciting range of festivals, exhibitions, artist residencies, schools projects, arts and health initiatives and public art programmes in order to grow and sustain local arts development.

We are proud to manage The Grainstore, dlr’s Youth Arts Facility, provide an annual subvention to support the work of the Pavilion Theatre, Mill Theatre and Dance Theatre of Ireland, and facilitate individual artists and arts organisations through the provision of dlr annual arts grants.

In partnership with our dlr Library Service colleagues we produce Mountains to Sea, dlr Book Festival (incorporating dlr Poetry Now) and work towards delivering the Central Library and Cultural Centre in Dún Laoghaire, due to open in Autumn 2014.

This website lists current art projects, developments and opportunities, and provides an online archive of previous festival programmes, exhibitions, residencies and events and links to arts organisations in the area.
