Our Vision is:
- To cultivate a cycling culture, through the implementation of appropriate infrastructure and promotional measures, that positively encourages all members of the community to cycle at all life stages and abilities as a mode of sustainable transport that delivers environmental, health and economic benefits to both the individual and the community.
- Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is very active in promoting cycling as a viable and safe mode of Transport
- In recent years a number of initiatives have been undertaken to improve cycling at a strategic level. These include: Review of cycling in Dún Laoghaire, the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Cycling Policy, the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Cycle Network Assessment
- At a local level when designing facilities for cyclists the most recent and up-to-date guidance is utilised, such as the National Cycle Manual. This is to ensure that cycling as a mode is provided for in a safe and coherent manor. Through continued effort and the provision of good facilities it is hope that Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown will exceed the governments target of 10% modal split for cyclists.
