The Traffic Section, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, has received a number of complaints about traffic congestion in front of the shops and businesses in the Churchtown Shopping Area off Upper Churchtown Road/Braemor Road.
Following a review of a number of options, the Traffic Section are proposing the layout as detailed on the enclosed Drawing Ref: TT-015-04-11.

The main points of the proposal are as follows:-
1. A new one-way system between the junction of Upper Churchtown Road and the South End of the entrance to the Supervalu carpark.
2. The section of roadway between the south end of the Supervalu carpark and the junction with Braemor Road to remain two-way.
3. Concrete footpath/build-out to be constructed at the north end of the one-way system to control traffic flows and to provide an easy and safe link for pedestrians to the existing footpath through the green open space and onto Braemor Road.
4. Parking Bays along the one-way system to be splayed to provide for easier traffic movement.
5. Filter traffic lane, on Braemor Road, to be extended to provide additional queuing space for traffic turning right into Upper Churchtown Road.
6. No change to the layout at the “An Post” junction at Braemor Road. Traffic to enter and exit as normal.
7. The introduction of controlled parking by means of “Pay and Display” to be introduced in conjunction with the proposed changes.
The above work is due to be undertaken shortly.
The Traffic Section would welcome any comments or observations directly to the undersigned or via email at traffic@dlrcoco.ie
