Planning

The Planning Department is responsible for implementing the provisions of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and the Planning and Development Regulations 2001- 2011.  This involves the preparartion and review of the County Development Plan, the preparation of  Local Area Plans, the consideration of applications for planning permission, the control of on-going development and the enforcement of planning legislation.  In addition, the Department provides advice on planning matters to the public and to other Council Departments.

The Planning Department is responsible for co-ordinating the objectives of other Council Departments and advises them in relation to the physical planning aspect of their developments and their compliance with the provisions of the County Development Plan.
