Commencement Notices

Under Regulations S.I. No. 496 of the Building Control Regulations 1997, a commencement notice is to be submitted not less than 14 days and not more than 28 days before the commencement of works or the making of the material change of use.

Fire Safety Certificates

The Building Control Acts 1990 and 1997 requires that all developments covered by the building regulations, except houses and agricultural buildings, obtain a Fire Safety Certificate.

Applications for Fire Safety Certificates are processed in the Plannning Department.  On the advice of the Chief Fire Officer, a Fire Safety Certificate is granted with or without conditions or refused.  There is provision for an appeal to An Bord Pleanala against the decision of a Building Control Authority in relation to a Fire Safety Certtificate application.
