Inter-County Library Quiz Final (August 2001)
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Libraries hosted the annual Inter-County Library Quiz Final in Dundrum Library on Wednesday 22nd August 2001. Five teams from the competing local authorities took part: Blanchardstown (Fingal), Castletymon (South Dublin), Central/Raheny (Dublin Corporation), Rathdrum (Wicklow) and Shankill (Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown). Best-selling author Eoin Colfer was the celebrity quiz master in what turned out to be a classic nail-biting finale which saw Central/Raheny beat Castletymon by one point after a tie-breaking round. The members of the Central/Raheny team were Sinéad Egan, Mairéad Gallagher, Caroline Grant, Aaron McGee, Donncha Mahony and Christopher Mounsey.

All teams had excellent scores and the event was enjoyed by all. Thomas Lane from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown won the "Super Sub" medal and Rathdrum Library won a book token for submitting the funniest answer! Excellent prizes courtesy of International Educational Services, Hodges Figgis, Mercier and Open Book were given to the winners and thanks to Eoin Colfer's publishers, O'Brien Press and Puffin, all 30 children participating in the quiz received a book.
