June 2013 - Latest Update and Photographs
'The refurbishment and extension of Blackrock Library is progressing well as part of an overall partnership between Dún Laghaire VEC and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The new Library and College will bring life back into this part of Blackrock, revitalising three significant Protected Structures dating from 1860 and 1905 -the Town Hall, Carnegie Library and VEC building.
The Library will be doubled in area and is woven through much of the ground floor of the development – at this stage, remedial works to roofs and facades is in progress, a universal access lift and ramps are being installed as is the new mezzanine floor. Furniture is being designed which will optimise the use of the spaces and IT servicing is well advanced.
